Prior to falling pregnant I knew about Doula's and the value they bring to a birthing experience. When Mark and I fell pregnant during the Covid pandemic and our families both living overseas I immediately knew we needed a Doula. Then the search commenced, it was vital to us to have a connection, be comfortable, have aligned beliefs and create a friendship with this amazing person who would support us in welcoming our little boy into the world. We had initial phone conversations with a number of doula's but unfortunately didn't find the connection we were seeking. I came across Katherine's details on a community mother's Facebook page. During our initial conversation I got a warm, supportive, knowledgeable and maternal vibe from Katherine. We met for an informal coffee when I was roughly 25 weeks pregnant and instantly knew we had found our Doula.

Katherine shared her own birthing experience with me, explained the process seamlessly and most importantly listened to our desires, making me feel safe and heard. We were open to all avenues of welcoming our little boy into the world but ultimately wanted a natural route if it was safe for mother and baby. The weeks went by, I reached out to Katherine on many occasions to ask questions when I felt anxious, needed guidance or an unbias opinion. Katherine was always available to me and provided information in a reassuring manner. On one occasion a week out from our due date I felt particularly anxious and Katherine came to our home the next morning. As a first time mom, on the other side of the world from her family this was the ultimate support I needed.

We welcomed our little boy into the world on the 6th Jan 2021 at 19.15. Mark, Katherine and I were the best support team. Katherine came to our home, we were both pretty anxious naturally. Immediately the atmosphere became calm and organised, Katherine gave my husband a purpose and directed him on tasks to do (pack the car, call the hospital, time contractions etc.) as you can appreciate for my husband until this point he had felt somewhat removed from the process. Katherine reassured me I was safe, reminded me of our agreed affirmations, drew on my calm birthing skills and physically supported my body during contractions. Katherine reminded me every step of the way I was capable and strong enough to birth my baby.

When we arrived at the hospital, Katherine worked with us and the medical team in a supportive and blended manner. This is where I feel the value of having a doula became incredibly powerful. I was 5cm dilated, starting to panic somewhat and wanted an epidural (this was not in my birthing desires). Katherine reassured me we could absolutely organise the epidural, but while we were waiting to try gas & air and run a bath. To note this was not something offered by the medical staff, once I requested the epidural no other pain relief was mentioned. The bath, gas & air and support from Katherine & Mark was a game changer. I didn't end up having the epidural, remained in the bath with my gas and air.... 3 hours later I was examined and was 9.5cm dilated. When my OB arrived it was an extension of the support team, Katherine coached me on breathing and pushing. This resulted on our little boy arriving 3 hours and 15 minutes from entering the hospital.

My birthing experience was absolutely amazing, it was so surreal to welcome our baby into the world. I felt empower, safe, respected and did it in the most natural way. I can hand on heart say this would not have happened without Katherine, we will forever be grateful for her guidance and support. My husband and I agreed if we are lucky enough to have future children Katherine will be right by our sides! We cannot recommend Katherine highly enough, future mother's would be lucky to have her support as part of their journey!

Katherine was my Doula for the births of my 3rd and 4th children (Also my sister-in-law). I’m pretty independent, and to be honest, didn’t really know what I wanted from a Doula. However, I am so glad that Katherine was with me. She just intuitively knew what I needed. Katherine was an active support person, without being intrusive or insistent. I didn’t tell her what I needed, she just did it. Even though the 2 births were very different in many ways, Katherine was an integral part of the environment that we created to birth in, I am so glad that she was with us, and I do highly recommend her.

Katherine is such a passionate, genuine and caring person making her an incredible support throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Her services were invaluable for us during our long labour at home. She provided emotional and physical support. My partner was also so surprised at how much of a support Katherine was during the 2 days of labour. She allowed him to take short breaks to rest and step back from the intense emotional experience. She allowed me to feel safe, supported and focused through my labour. Once we transferred to hospital she helped to create a beautiful environment to make the transition from home to hospital seamless. Katherine also became a wonderful advocate for us among the medical system. Our family will be forever grateful for your support and knowledge.

Doula of Honour is what she shall be.

Patient, caring, protected, advocate, passionate and most importantly someone who could give me that nurturing motherly nature that won't leave me (my mama passed away) is what came to mind when I was on the hunt for a Doula. Katherine is all those things. From the moment I got in contact with Katherine I instantly felt that this was the best decision for myself, she was the person I needed.

Katherine made sure I went through with every plan I had for my ideal calm birth and always reassured me that "I can do it". Due to previous trauma it was really important that my doula would support me and to just "be there, in the moment with me". I cant fault Katherine one single bit, she did all that. At times during a surge I almost felt Katherine was literally speaking to my soul, from feeling tense, she instantly got me to relax. If you're wondering where my husband was during all this, well, he got his few minutes of fame to touch me after that he was gone- I don't do well with men, they worry and have this puzzled look on their face and it throws me off, which is why I needed Katherine. And he was equally thrilled about having Katherine with us.

I am forever grateful for you! You helped me do it, you helped me bring my dream to life. To birth our first boy all on my own, no interruptions, just me. Although this journey has come to an end, it is bitter sweet, I get to hold on to the memory forever. So, a thousand times over- Thank you my Doula of Honour for giving me the best experience of my life.

My husband and I engaged Katherine as our doula for my second pregnancy. From the first consultation, it became evident she would be a formidable person in holding space and advocating for us in my upcoming VBAC birth. Katherine went out of her way to provide support and advice throughout my pregnancy, both in person and via just about every other electronic form of communication too. She listened to my prior traumatic birth experience, and helped me process and work through concerns I held for this birth in a way that left me feeling strong and empowered for my upcoming birth. Covid lockdown threw us some curve balls, but Katherine went above and beyond to try to work through everything with us. Thank you for being by our side every step of the way, and never making us feel like we had to go through anything alone. I achieved my VBAC and birthed a healthy baby boy!

Having Katherine at my birth allowed me to achieve a wonderful natural birth in the hospital setting. I truly believe she was integral in keeping my birth team and I calm and well supported. It was amazing to have one trusted, experienced person there from the very beginning at home until the end to guide me through. She knew what I wanted and needed without asking and she also took amazing photos of the whole experience. I honestly don’t think I could have done it without her! I would highly recommend Katherine to anyone giving birth!!

The best decision I made was hiring Katherine as my doula. From the moment I spoke to her on the phone, I knew she was the right person for me as she was caring, knowledgeable and listened to my needs and concerns. I was able to achieve my VBAC with no pain relief, which I honestly didn’t think was possible. Katherine held a very supportive and positive space for me, she was patient and understanding and she believed in me when I doubted myself. She was intuitive and knew exactly what I needed. Katherine was also a massive support to my husband and helped him stay strong and put his mind at ease when things started to get more intense. My only regret is I wish I had Katherine at the birth of my eldest daughter which ended in C-section. I truly believe having a doula is essential to achieving your birth plan. My midwife also commented on Katherine and said she was the perfect support person. It’s amazing what you can achieve when someone believes in you and gives you the best guidance.
